Christmas starts here with this wonderfully engaging workshop. Step into the spirit of the season with a chance to gild your own Christmas tea light and hanging ornament – or take a nostalgic journey back to the 19th century. In true Victorian fashion, real walnuts were once gilded and transformed into delicate decorations for fireplaces and Christmas trees. These charming ornaments often held secret messages, tucked inside to be opened on New Year’s Day. While ours may not conceal surprises, they beautifully echo that enchanting era when A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens set the scene for a truly magical festive celebration.
Amelia will guide you through the art of laying gold leaf onto any surface and help you to create wonderful items that will make fabulous mementoes of the day, and unique Christmas gifts for friends and family.
In this 1 ½ hour workshop you will:
- be given your own toolset to use on the day which contains all the materials and tools required for this workshop.
- learn the art of contemporary gilding, how it has changed over time and how you can use it in your own home to give items the Midas touch!
- learn how to add your own unique flair to Christmas ornaments of your choice.
